the albatross probably has the biggest symbolism in the poem. it represents renewed hope when the crew notices that it brings the gust of wind then when the mariner kills it, it represents a loss of innocence. It was killed with a crossbow which can be a parallel of how Christ was killed. so the albatross can probably be symbolized as Christ. the crossbow symbolizes the cross that Crist was killed with. He wears it around his neck as the same shape a crucifix is.
